Haleigh Cummings Missing
Haleigh Cummings was reported missing in south Putnam county early Tuesday morning. Detectives say there is no sign of forced entry into Haleigh's home.
Putnam County Sheriff's Deputies are trying to create a time line of every place Haleigh went and every person Haleigh met in the last 30 days.
"I just want her home, please just bring her home," said Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother.
Crystal Sheffield and her family came to Satsuma from Baker County as soon as they got the news of her daughter's disappearance.
A deputy's car still stands guard in front of Haleigh's home. Deputies believe both the front door and the back door were open when the girlfriend of Haleigh's father noticed she wasn't sleeping in bed next to her early Tuesday morning. She says Haleigh's father was on his way from work.
"We are offering opportunities to make free wide open statements, free form statements, and we're offering polygraphs to everybody to eliminate themselves as suspects. All the world is a suspect right now," said Major Gary Bowling with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Early Tuesday morning bloodhounds traced Haleigh's scent to the end of a boat ramp near Haleigh's home, but because of the way the wind was blowing, deputies aren't sure she came to the ramp or was taken from there when she left.
"We're treating this like an abduction. There are no longer any reasons to believe that the child simply wandered outside," Bowling said.
Strangers are helping in any way they can like Harriet Van Slyke and her daughter who brought fresh fruit, snacks and bottles of water to the waiting Sheffield family.
"Because we decided to donate whatever we can, whether it's food, or whatever they need. And I think right now, they just need prayers," Van Slyke said.
"I'm not leaving until I find my baby. I just want her home," Sheffield said.
Haleigh's family says she is a smart inquisitive girl and also a light sleeper who they don't believe would have slept through or gone willingly with a stranger. There were about 50 investigators from various agencies out at the scene today and they are hoping to bring in some volunteer groups tomorrow or Friday to help do some searching.
