Medical Office Thief Caught
For the past month, more than a dozen medical offices in Marion County have been burglarized since Christmas.
Monday, authorities told TV20 they believe they caught the man responsible.
Early Monday morning, the security alarm at Chiropractic USA, on SW 60th Avenue went off. The same night while patrolling the TimberRidge Medical Park, Deputy Jonah Music noticed a gold Ford Explorer parked in front of Dr. Stephen Dunn's Dentistry Office. According to reports, when the Deputy touched the car's engine, it was still warm. Moments later, Deputy Music heard the sound of glass breaking and ran to the side of the building. There he found 32 year-old Justin Braden of Ocala.
Reports state Braden took off running into nearby woods. A helicopter was able to pin point Braden's location before a Sheriff's K-9 named Thor tracked him down.
Braden later confessed to several of the recent burglaries targeting medical facilities in Marion County and the City of Ocala.
During an interrogation, Braden told Marion County Sheriff Detective, Ed Mobley he was after money, not drugs.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office and Ocala Police collaborated in the investigation. The Sheriff's Department has charged Braden in relation to nine break-ins. Separately, Ocala Police has charged him in connection to four recent medical office burglaries. Ocala Police Detective Mat Steckman told TV20 there are several more cases that may later be linked to Braden.
According to Det. Mobley, Braden moved to Ocala recently, after serving time in a Georgia prison for charges related to theft.
