In Ocala, the Southeastern Pro Rodeo gets underway this evening. The rodeo is in its 20th year... and there'll be plenty of action at this years event. Rodeo contestants will be competing in saddle and bareback bronco riding, barrel racing, and other events. And there's what's referred to as the most dangerous eight seconds in rodeo... bull riding!! The Gainesville Community Playhouse is kicking off it's spring production tonight. "9 to 5" is a musical. You may remember the popular 1980 movie of the same name that featured Dolly Parton. The show revolves around the lives of three ladies who work together to take control of their company....learning there's nothing they can't do. Shows are tonight and Saturday night at 8, with a matinee Sunday at 2 pm. The show runs through April 14th. Website
Outside this weekend, O’Leno State Park is hosting the O’Leno Ole' Chili Cook-off and Springs Celebration. You can bring your own recipe to compete in the cook-off... or just sample the chili. At the Springs Celebration there'll be live music, guided walks and activities for the kids. The Chili Cook-Off runs from 9 to 3 Saturday, while the Springs Celebration goes from 11 to 3 at the park located 8 miles north of High Springs on highway 441. Website
Kanapaha Botanical Gardens is holding its Spring Garden Festival this weekend. The event features over 200 booths including plants, garden accessories, food, arts and crafts.... and more. And there'll be a kids area too. Referred to as Gainesville's premier horticultural event, the festival goes from 9 to 5 Saturday and 10 to 5 Sunday. Website
