Happy Friday everyone! Art, music, sports.... we've got a little of everything for you this weekend.
Heading to the coast is always a great outing... and this weekend you have a great reason to go. The Cedar Key Fine Arts Festival is this weekend. This is the 49th year the island community has hosted the festival. Second Street will be the place to be to check out all kinds of art. The beach front city park will have vendors, too. How do crab cakes, fried grouper and fresh squeezed lemonade sound? The festival goes from 10 to 5 both Saturday and Sunday in Cedar Key. Website
Silver Springs 2013 Concert Series continues this weekend with Joan Jett. The singer, songwriter and rock guitarist was big in the 80's....probably best known for her number one hit "I Love Rock ‘n' Roll". The artist sometimes referred to as the "Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll" will be on stage Saturday at 3 pm at Silver Springs. Website
Farther North on Highway 441 in Marion County, the Town of McIntosh is holding its Centennial Celebration. The quaint community is known for it's unique homes and beautiful oak trees. The celebration will feature a look back at McIntosh's past. You can also check out a vintage car show...and grab something to eat or drink while you're strolling through town. The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday at Van Ness Park. Website
If you like being outside, the Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce is hosting it's Spring Festival Saturday. There'll be a variety of things to check out...including arts and crafts and things to snack on. The event goes from 10 to 5 Saturday at Mayo Town Park in downtown Mayo. Website
Finally, the Levy County Fair is underway. It runs through Sunday at Airport Industrial Park in Williston. Website And if you'd like to see some baseball this weekend, the Gators take on South Carolina tonight at 7:30 and tomorrow at 3 at McKethan Stadium on the UF campus. Website
