Happy Friday everyone! While there may be no Gator football yet this weekend, there's lots to keep you busy.
The Gator soccer team is in action this weekend to kick off the 2013-2014 athletic season. And for the fifth year in a row the Gators are taking on one of their in state rivals. The pre-season number nine ranked soccer team is facing Florida Gulf Coast tonight. The defending SEC champs take to the field at James Pressly Stadium at 7 this evening. To finish the weekend the team is back in action Sunday evening at 7 when they take on Oregon State on the UF campus. Website
West of Gainesville, Tioga Town Center will be busy a busy place this weekend. Tioga Town Fair is Saturday. This is the sixth year for the event which is benefiting the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation. There'll be lots for the family to do: bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, carnival games, a petting zoo and a lot more. The event runs from 4 to 8 pm Saturday at Tioga Town Center. Website
Also at the Town of Tioga, this is the weekend for the second Grape Stompin' Wine Festival. The festival started out as a one day event in downtown Gainesville... but has expanded to two days this year. The Pledge 5 Foundation is hosting the event featuring wine and food pairing tours, carriage rides, live music, and, yes, some real grape stomping. The Grape Stompin' Wine Festival is Saturday night from 9 pm to 2 am, and from 1 to 6 Sunday afternoon at Tioga Town Center. Website
If you'd like to get wet this weekend, the YMCA in northwest Gainesville is holding its Back to School Splash event. It's a fundraiser for YMCA Aerials Gymnastics. Tickets are nine dollars at the door, which includes food and drink. Kids 4 and under are free. You can dive into the fun Saturday evening from 7:30 to 10:30 at the Y, located at 5201 NW 34th Street in Gainesville. Website
