Happy Friday everyone! A wide variety of things going on this weekend.... so here goes:
This will be an active weekend for sports at UF. Tonight you have two choices: The ladies soccer team is in action at Pressly Stadium, taking on South Carolina at 7 pm. Also at 7 over at the Odome it's the volleyball team taking to the floor to face off against Texas A & M. Saturday, the football team returns home to the Swamp as the Arkansas Razorbacks will be in town to take on the Gators. Kickoff is just after 7 Saturday evening. Wrapping up the weekend on the UF campus, the soccer team will face Auburn at 2 pm Sunday. Website
Peanut lovers, Williston is the place for you this weekend. The Levy County community is celebrating the crop with its annual Peanut Festival. There will be plenty of peanuts to be had. You'll definitely want to check out the peanut pies.... along with the free grilled pbj's while they last. The event will also feature other food, live music and arts and crafts. There'll also be rides for the kids and an elephant petting and feeding area. The festival is Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm at Heritage Park at the intersection of Highway 27 & North Main Street in Williston. Website
If you like horses you might want to head to Archer Sunday for the Horsin' Around Fall Festival. Admission is free for the event that includes pony rides, a petting zoo, hayrides and other fun activities. (how about a good old fashioned sack race?). The festival benefits, and is put together by, Horses Helping People... an organization that uses animals to help people with special needs. The event goes from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at 9722 SW 153rd Avenue in Archer. Website
In Ocala, the Marion County Heart Walk is Saturday. The goal of the walk is to raise awareness about heart-healthy lifestyles.... and to raise money to fight heart disease and stroke. Activities begin Saturday morning at 8, with the walk starting at 9. It all takes place at the Baseline Road Trailhead, 4225 SE 58th Avenue in Ocala. Website
Finally, Dudley Farm is holding its annual Quilt Day from 10 to 3 Saturday. The park is west of Gainesville on Newberry Road, about 7 miles west of I-75. Website
