Happy Friday everyone! It may be an away weekend for Gator football... but there's plenty going on across north-central Florida this weekend.
When the fall weather arrives it's usually time for a fall favorite. The 29th Annual Art Festival at Thornebrook is going on this weekend. Around 125 fine artists and craftsman will be showing off their work, with a wide variety of art on display. There will be food and music, and kids activities, too. The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. Just go to Thornebrook Village, 2441 NW 43rd street in Gainesville. Website
Our friends in Lafayette County are holding the Pioneer Day Festival tonight and Saturday. This is the 34th year for the event in Mayo. The highlight of the festival is the parade that runs down Main Street starting at 10 am. There'll be plenty for the kids to do, in addition to live entertainment and lots of food. (think barbecue, funnel cakes and the Mayo Fire Departments own syrup!) You can check out the antique car show while you're in town, as well. The Pioneer Day Festival goes until 10 tonight and from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday in downtown Mayo. Website
Newberry is holding its Fall Market Festival and Bar-B-Q cook off this weekend. The event will feature not only great barbecue but family friendly activities and entertainment. The Fall Market Festival runs from 9 to 4 Saturday along Seaboard Drive in downtown Newberry. Website
If it's music you want, the Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce is hosting Jazz Up Dunnellon Saturday. At the event there'll be a variety of music from rock to blues and jazz. In addition to the music, you'll be able to sample cajun & creole inspired food. Jazz Up Dunnellon goes from 5 to 9 pm Saturday on East and West Pennsylvania Avenue in Dunnellon. Website
Finally, the Ocala Civic Theatre is wrapping up its production of Les Miserables this weekend. Website
Enjoy your weekend!
