Happy Friday everyone! Lots of things to do outside this weekend...
Heading to the Gulf coast is seldom a bad idea.... but this weekend should be great. The Cedar Key Fine Arts Festival is this weekend. The event, also known as the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts, is celebrating it's 50th year. You can stroll down Second Street on the island checking out the art of over a hundred artists and craftsmen. While on the island, you can also sample home made treats and seafood. And the kids can have fun at City Park right on the beach. The festival runs from 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. Website
Just up the coast, the Horseshoe Beach Spring Festival is Saturday. The event, sponsored by the Horseshoe Beach Library, features a parade down Main Street at 11 am. There'll also be arts and crafts and a concert by the water. As for the food, how about seafood gumbo, fish chowder and burgers? The event goes from 10 to 4 Saturday. Website
If it's food you're looking for, you might want to check out the Ocala Crawfish Festival Saturday. The organizers are bringing in over a ton of crawfish for the event. You can get a pound of them for ten bucks, by the way. If you're not full there'll also be red beans and rice, roasted corn and lots more. Your young ones can check out the big kids area, too. The event, a fundraiser for The Marion Academies, starts at 2 pm Saturday and goes through the evening. Website
Also this weekend, the 2014 Bradford County Strawberry Festival. There'll be no shortage of things to eat there, of course. The family friendly event also has a Kidz Zone, the Strawberry 5k run and entertainment throughout the day. The fun runs Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm, and Sunday from 9 to 5 in downtown Starke. Website
