Bravo Trial Day 2: Father & Mother Take Stand
GAINESVILLE - We continue to follow the Pedro Bravo trial. Both the prosecution and defense team finished their opening statements. The first witness on the stand today was Carlos Aguilar. Some of the content may be graphic.
A number of people took the stand today. Carlos and Claudia Aguilar, the parents of Christian. Four friends aguilar and bravo had in common, as the last person to testify today was Erika Friman who dated both Aguilar and Bravo.
What is chloroform? Can rubbing alcohol knock someone out? Those are google some of the searches made by Pedro Bravo.
Brian Kramer with the State Attorney's Office asked Claudia Aguilar, Christian's mother, "When was the last time you had any communication with him?" And she responded, "Okay that was on Thursday the 20th between 5:30 and 6pm I received a text message from christian. What was it? He just sent me a picture telling me that he got a flu shot."
On September 20th 2012, that's the day Christian Aguilar went missing. The next day, Bravo accompanied Erika Friman-- Aguilars' girlfriend and Bravo's ex, to UFPD to report their friend missing. "And the purpose of him being there is because we gotta find chris. Chris is missing. Remember chris has to disappear, he has to go missing... This is the plan. Can't get Erika back if Chris is here," Kramer said.
Days before Aguilar went missing. Prosecutors say Bravo went to Walmart to buy an $0.88 ankle wrap and got $80 in cash back. Later in Lowes he bought a shovel. On September 20th 2012, Bravo requested to meet up with Aguilar to talk about Friman and they did. They drove around and the last place they visited was Walmart. They both left the store and got into Bravo's SUV. And thats when the prosecution says Bravo strangled Aguilar for 13 minutes in the parking lot of Walmart.
Kramer with the State Attorney's Office asked Carlos Aguilar, "Did you know him to be a friend of Christian's?" Carlos responded, It depends on your definition of friend."
The defense team on the other hand says both students got into a fight that went a little too far. Michael Ruppert Bravo's attorney said, "He did get into a fight. He did hit his friend. And that's what he does not want to tell."
When Friman testified she said that Bravo was very distraught at the idea of them not being together. That he would cry and get emotional when the subject was brought up. Also that he was also very possessive. Friman will be cross examined by the defense on Wednesday.
